NOTE: For home use only
The Vibiemme Domobar Super is a heat exchange espresso machine that comes in three different configurations, which are as follows:
- Manual, water reservoir, and vibratory pump
- Electronic, water reservoir, and vibratory pump
- Manual, water reservoir with direct connect option, and rotary pump
Features specific to this variation of the Vibiemme (VBM) Super Domobar HX include:
- Manual three way valve below that grouphead that allows for removal of the portafilter immediately after extraction has completed. The side of the grouphead has a small lever that allows the water pump/three way solenoid valve to be engaged or disengaged – a process that starts or stops extractions depending on lever position.
- A switchable tank/direct connection water source option. Use the direct connection if your home or office has that connection option available for a continuous water supply. A water reservoir is also available if that option is desired. Once a direction connection has been set up, switching between the sources is as simple as moving a lever on the bottom of the machine.
- A rotary vane pump. The other two machine variations have vibratory pumps – which are great pumps, but they can be a little noisy. This variation has a rotary vane pump that is much quieter during operation. This is a feature commonly found on much more expensive commercial espresso machines, but it is found much less often on home espresso machines. As an added benefit, the pump is also larger than vibratory pump found on the other two variations. The larger size provides quicker ramp up pressure at the start of espresso extraction.
Body Panels and External Aesthetics
Vibiemme Domobar Super espresso machines look as great as they perform – the machines have a high class, high quality look that you can be proud to showcase in even the finest of designer kitchens and offices. The body panels are made of high quality stainless steel, providing not only beauty, but also long term performance durability and internal component protection. All external components, such as the Faema E61 brew group aesthetics and overall quality of the machine.
Faema E61 Grouphead
One of the best and most loved, commercial grade group heads of the market is the Faema E61 grouphead, which is the group head of the Vibiemme Domobar Super espresso machine. It is the heaviest group heads in its class, providing temperature stability that is difficult to match. Temperature stability is a vital element in producing espresso with the finest flavor profile.
Everyone who has used a standard single boiler espresso machine will understand the frustration caused by the required wait time between processes, especially if you are making more than one drink. The heat exchanger on the Vibiemme Domobar Supers takes this wait time out of the equations and allows users to make drink after drink as long as there is water in the reservoir.
Insulated Inner Wall
Inner wall that is between the water reservoir and boiler has insulation for enhanced heat stability
Each Vibiemme Domobar Super espresso machine comes with two, high quality, commercial grade brass portafilters. One of the portafilters is designed for single shots, with a single spout and a single shot filter basket. The other portafilter is designed for double shots, with double spouts and a double filter basket.
Large Boiler Capacity
Each machine has a superior quality copper boiler that has a large, 1.8 liter capacity – more than enough for producing strong steam for making cappuccinos, lattes, and other milk based drinks. The heat exchanger feature allows users to have on demand steam immediately after brewing.
Make drink after drink with the large 3.8 liter pour-over water tank on the Vibiemme Domobar Super. For easy refills and cleaning, the water tank is removable.
Each machine comes with two gauges – one for the boiler and one for the water pump.
The boiler pressure gauge measures the boiler pressure between .8 and 1.2 bar pressure. Settings on the pressure gauge can be changed by adjusting a Parker pressurstat device through an access port on the top of the machine.
To make brew pressure monitoring an easy task, the machine is equipped with an easy-to-read pump pressure gauge.
Steam and Hot Water Wands
There are two multi-directional, stainless steel wands on the machine. One of them is a steam wand and is mounted on the left side of the machine and can be easily rotated for optimal steaming. The other wand is a hot water tap and can be used to dispense hot water for drinks like hot tea and Americanos.
To make operation easy, the machine has indicator lights for power on, heating, and low water levels. Users can easily tell when the machine is powered on, when it’s heating, and when the water level in the machine is low.
Large Drip Tray
A large drip tray on the machine makes emptying less frequent. It is constructed of high quality stainless steel and can be easily removed by pulling it out like a drawer. Unlike many espresso machines, where grate removal is required to remove the drip tray, the grate can stay in place while the drip tray is off the machine.
Three Way Solenoid Valve
The espresso extraction process builds up a lot of pressure and if the portafilter is removed on completion the excess pressure can cause water and coffee grounds to spurt all over the place. This problem is eliminated on the Vibiemme Domobar Super espresso machine with a three way solenoid valve technology that relieves pressure on the coffee after brewing and dries out the coffee puck, for a clean, drip free operating experience. Knocking the used coffee puck out of the portafilter is easy and leaves little residue behind.
Three stage power switch allows user to fill internal boiler without sending power to the heating element (prevents damage upon initial start up).
GICAR branded electronic water level control for internal boiler is located in lower right rear corner of machine where there is least heat build up
Largest OPV (over pressure valve opens when too much pump pressure exists) located in rear of machine with easy access when body panel and six (6) associated screws are removed.
Each espresso machine comes with a complete accessories kit, which includes: single spout portafilter, double spout portafilter, single shot filter basket, double shot filter basket, backflushing filter basket, plastic coffee scoop, and a plastic tamper. It is recommended that you purchase a high quality tamper for best results.

I can't believe I've had mine for a month already. I connected mine directly to the plumbing and have been making espressos nearly every day since. I would probably rate it a little lower if I had to fill the tank manually--the tank is very inconvenient to access, especially if you plan to use the top surface as a cup/glass warmer, as intended, or if you need to locate the machine under a cupboard, as I did. But with the flexibility to directly connect a water line and drain line, none of those possible shortcomings are a problem. It came with the necessary hoses and adapters to make the switch, which was much appreciated, and it can be easily switched back if needed. I had to do a little bit of manual adjustment of the overpressure relief valve when I first hooked it up to get shots into an appropriate pressure range but with a machine this well built, I just took this little bit of setup as part of the experience of perfecting the drinks it's capable of producing. Now that I've settled on my routine, I'm getting consistent, delicious results every time.
