The Quick Mill Silvano is not to be underestimated because of its amazing features, despite being an entry level espresso machine. Churn out delicious lattes, espresso drinks, and cappuccinos thanks to the great features this machine has, including the built in PID temperature control technology and dual heating elements. It has a boiler for espresso brewing and thermoblock for steaming purposes, each with its own pump.

Quick Mill Silvano Evo Feature Diagram

Main Features:

Compact structure

This entry level machine is ideal for those with limited spaces – it can fit in anywhere and takes up little room. The sleek and contemporary model stands at a height of 16 inches, so it can easily fit under most cabinets in the U.S.

Top quality

The exterior, interior, and drip tray is made using stainless steel, which makes the machine highly durable. The material is specifically designed to ensure an aesthetic element and prolong the machine’s lifespan. Stainless steel also prevents rust, stains, acids, or other corrosive buildups. The portafilter is also professional grade and is made of high quality chrome plated brass. Even the frame is stainless steel.

Simple operation

The Silvano uses just 3 toggle switches to control the machine. The top switch has 3 positions – 0, 1, and 2, with 0 turning the machine off, 1 used for pumping only, and 2 for switching on the boiler and pump. The middle switch, also the brew switch, utilizes light indicators for signaling on or off, while the bottom one regulates the steam pump with an indicator to show when it is heating up.

Thermoblock steaming

The frothing and steaming is facilitated by a steam pump and uses a thermoblock to heat the water. It takes about 75 seconds to steam 8 ounces of liquid to 160°F at a decent speed. The presence of the thermoblock means you don’t have to transition between the brewing boiler and steaming mechanism of the boiler, as it can be done simultaneously.

Temperature control

A PID or proportional-integral-derivative control is situated in the form of a display on the upper left hand corner. Temperature management is easy and can be set and the same setting can be used on a continual day to day basis. The PID supports dual temperature scales of Celsius and Fahrenheit for your convenience and the controller can be modified from its preset value of 200°F.

Vibratory pumps

A couple of Ulka vibratory pumps – 52 watt and 16 watt – are exclusively incorporated for the brew boiler and steam thermoblock respectively. This way the machine can generate steam and brew espresso at the same time, without having to wait for temperature changes between brewing and steaming. The high quality pumps ensure that water is there when it’s needed and are designed to provide enough power to create pressure for the brewing process.

Large Drip Tray Prevents Spills and Stains

The Silvano has an extra large pull-out drip tray, with a capacity of 46 ounces. While the tray is large, is also designed to be easily removable for emptying and cleaning.

Easy Pump Pressure Adjustment

An expansion valve under the group head allows for easy adjustment of pump pressure without the need to remove the exterior casing on the machine.

2 Liter Water Reservoir

The large reservoir on the Silvano will also you to make drink after drink with fewer refills in between. Most cabinets make it difficult to operate an espresso machine due to the space between the countertop and the cabinets above it. Instead of having a reservoir that is removable through the top of the machine, the Silvano has a convenient side removal reservoir. The reservoir can be refilled by removing and taking it to a faucet or it can be pulled out and filled with a water pitcher or bottle. Please make sure to use softened water, not hard water or distilled water.

    Silvano

Posted by Quentin on 27th Jul 2021

Tell us why you gave it this rating Very good value for money. I've cranked out drinks for four folks at a time, some with milk and some straight double shots. The reservoir accommodates it easily and the temp resets within 15-20 secs of each pull. Steamer has decent power. Tell us why you gave us this rating I dealt with Joe at Espresso Outlet and my experience was that he is in it for the long game. Very straightforward and transparent style. Much appreciated. In my case, the Quickmill was backlogged across the entire USA and Joe was honest about his expected timelines. I was happy to wait for the right product and enjoyed the flexibility he offered around my deposit if I decided to procure a different machine elsewhere while waiting for the Quickmill to ship. Joe was also good about answering questions over email. What made you choose Espresso Outlet? Very good website content.

    Quickmill Silvano

Posted by Steven Prescott on 12th Dec 2019

The quickmill silvano is a great machine for me. It only takes 15 minutes to warm up. I make primarily milk drinks and the thermal block is great. Very easy to get the hang of. The PID with the shot timer is very helpful as well.

This espresso machine does what it promises to do

Posted by Jay on 24th Jun 2017

This espresso machine does what it promises to do - but you'll have to invest a little time and effort to get it right. I love the fact that I have control over pressure and temperature. As for reliability/durability, only time will tell."

    Silvano is one tremendous machine!

Posted by Fredstench on 7th Mar 2016

I have owned this machine for 2 years and it has worked flawlessly. It makes great espresso with lots of crema. I mostly enkoy lattes and capucimo (even after noontime!), and the Silvano does a good, but not exceptional, job of steaming and frothing the milk. It has a temperature and pressure gauge that are helpful for observing brew conditions. Another positive for the Silvano is that it helps conserve precious counter space - it fits under our counters and does not protrude too far into the counter. I take care of my Silvano by back-flushing at least every two weeks and I use the Cafiza espresso once a quarter to keep the brewhead clean. You can spend a lot more on a fancy espresso machine, but for a one latte a day consumer trying to conserve space, the Silvano is perfect. (Amazon Review)
