Machine & Grinder(s) Package Deal

Nuova Simonelli is a company who is the maker of the famous Aurelia which in the coffee world is known as one of the best of the best. Nuova Simonelli has created the Appia II machines to have many of the same coveted features in a more basic, economical package. The Appia II comes in a few different variations including semi-automatic and volumetric and is also available with one or two groupheads depending on your needs. The volumetric is an enviable option that will be attractive to users who are looking for a top-notch machine for their low-volume commercial application such as a small café, small restaurant or catering business. Excellence in performance packed into a small package, this machine would also serve well the devoted coffee enthusiast looking to purchase for the home. The performance and price make this machine an unbeatable value.

The Appia Life (previously Appia II) comes in multiple variations to fit the needs of as many consumers as possible. It is available in semi-automatic, volumetric and compact volumetric. The semi-automatic has more user control and requires a higher level of knowledge when operating as they control the extraction with a push button. The volumetrics are automatic machines, meaning users can simply select what kind of shot they would like and the machine does all the rest of the work. The compacts are designed to have a smaller footprint and come available with 2 groupheads. The semi-automatic is available with one grouphead. The volumetrics are available with 2 or 3 groupheads. The final difference between these machines (besides the boiler sizes to accommodate the extra grouphead) is the steam wand. The 1 group volumetric and the compact volumetric have the option of adding on a smart steamwand while the semi-automatic comes with 1 standard steamwand. The 2 group volumetric comes with 2 steamwands.

Nuova Simonelli has recreated the Appia Life with ergonomic, responsive push buttons to program with ease.  The buttons located above the grouphead allow users to make selections for a short single shot, a double short shot, a long single shot, a double long shot and a manual button.

One of Nuova Simonelli’s primary objectives with each machine is optimization of the flavor and consistency of the extraction. They have creatively added a larger pre-infusion chamber to draw out the saturation period and create a delay before the maximum pump pressure is reached, this improves saturation and results in a more consistent extraction.

Many espresso machines have a traditional cup capacity, meaning the grouphead is low enough to accommodate only a shot glass or espresso mug. This means that a barista must extract into a shot glass or mug and transfer to a taller cup which can decrease efficiency and thus waste time. Nuova has specially developed a high grouphead to accommodate cups of taller sizes, a very handy feature if you are making cups to-go.

The auto smart steam system aims for perfection and consistency in every froth. The auto function enables even the most novice of users to create a perfectly velvety froth for milk-based beverages. Steam is automatically stopped when the preset temperature has been achieved. The wand is specially thermo-insulated to prevent the build-up of dried burnt milk as well as prevent burns from touching the wand during steaming.  Please note only the 1 group has option of auto smart steam wand as the 2 group has 2 standard steam wands.

Nuova Simonelli has specially designed a push-pull system for use with steam or hot water wand dependent on the variation selected. For hot water, users can push lever down to start stream and pull up to stop. For steam, users can tap lever upwards to deliver bursts of steam and lock in the downwards position for continuous.

A very desirable feature on this unit is the ability to directly connect it to a water source as well connect to drain. No more lugging around heavy water tanks for constant refills or emptying overflowing drip trays. This system is more convenient, efficient and clean. An empty water tank can also cause severe damage to the machine, a direct water connection will prevent this from happening.

Returns Policy
We have a 60 day return policy (Starting November 24th, 2017) on espresso machines and grinders designed for home use (exceptions below). If you return within 30 days, you get a full refund minus shipping costs. If you return after 30 days, you get a store credit. Unlike our competitors – this is a 60 day trial period. Most competitors only allow 30 day returns if the product hasn’t been used. Many competitors will also charge expensive restocking fees if you read the fine print. The customer will receive a refund if the item is returned in like new condition, with all accessories that came with it, with all original, undamaged packaging, clean and packaged according to the specifications we provide. If the product is returned in this condition you will receive a full refund (or store credit if over 30 days) minus all shipping costs. We reserve the right to charge a restocking fee as outlined in our terms and conditions if the product is not returned as specified above.

There are the following exceptions to the 60 day return period: La Cimbali Junior Casa, Vesuvius by Ambient, Quick Mill Andreja Profiles, Vibiemme Double Domobar V4, Rocket R60, Rancilio Epoca, parts, accessories and all products listed under the commercial business section, here For these exceptions all sales are final. See our terms and conditions for additional details.

Free shipping with most orders - you must be located in the lower 48 continuous states and there is a minimum order amount of $29. An exception to this is commercial espresso machines and espresso machines that require shipment on a pallet via Less Than a Truckload. This is sometimes included free, but contact us for details.

In stock items that ship via UPS usually ship within 1 to 2 business days. Heavier products such as commercial espresso machines are shipped via freight truck strapped to a pallet and it generally takes 1 to 3 business days to benchtest and arrange shipment. Transit times depend on the distance being shipped, but this map provides a general idea of shipment times in business days for items shipped via UPS. Freight truck shipment usually takes 3 to 8 business days depending on distance.

IMPORTANT: Water quality is a very important aspect of your espresso machine longevity. Water that is too hard will cause limescale buildup, which is the number one reason for operating problems. Too pure water, such as ultra pure RO water or distilled water can cause the machine to overfill, since the water level probe needs some minerals in the water to detect water. Use softened water that is about 50ppm in hardness. More info

PLEASE NOTE: Most machines and grinders are inspected for damage after being shipped from overseas. This means most boxes will have signs of being opened even though they are brand new products. This is done to ensure that the equipment made the international shipment in good condition and working order.

COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT NOTE: Most commercial equipment ships on a pallet and has to be bench tested prior to shipment. For this reason, commercial equipment usually ships out three to five business days after the order is received. Some commercial equipment is also special order and/or has limited availability, so please check with us prior to placing an order. Check terms and conditions page for terms relating to commercial equipment.
