The Baratza Virtuoso has 40mm conical burrs that provide a very uniform grind, setting the grinder apart from similar grinders in its price range. The burrs can be adjusted with 40 different grind settings – enough for a wide range of different brewing methods, from espresso to French press. The grind range is 250 to 1200 microns. The burrs are designed for long term durability and consistent sharpness.
The DC motor has a lot of torque that turns the burrs slowing. This type of operation allows users to grind coffee for an extended period of time and results in a quiet, cool operation. To protect the motor from possible overheating, it has a thermal cutoff switch that turns the grinder off and automatically resets for user convenience.
The Virtuoso grinder can be adjusted to operate at speeds between 405 and 495 RPM. The slow operation speed reduces heat, noise and static during operation and allows coffee beans to feed smoothly into the burrs. In order to make the burrs operate at such slow speeds, the Virtuoso uses electronic and gear reduction technology.
Use the 60 second timer on the Virtuoso grinder for repeating grind times and amounts.
The Virtuoso minimizes the amount of ground coffee left in the grinder after operation, ensuring the freshness of your coffee and reducing cleaning frequency. When cleaning is needed, it can be done quickly and easily without any tools.
The Gearbox on the Baratza Virtuoso has many advanced features that improve durability while decreasing noise during operation. The features include a new drive gear that is made with glass filled thermo plastic. The thermo plastic design wears better than metal gears and produces less noise during operation.
A burr calibration system allows users to calibrate the grinder if so desired.
